tribute to concorde copyright 2009
Dimensions: The overall frame sizes are: Height 840mm, Width: 660mm and Depth: 75mm. The Concorde model measurements are: Nose tip to Tail tip, 410mm and the Wingspan is 160mm. You will note there are no signatures in the pictures and that is to ensure that they cannot be copied in any way. As we have said, there is only going to be 100 of these Tributes (Worldwide) and it is imperative that only the "owners" have the original signatures on their finished, serial numbered, pieces!
Concorde Tribute
  • Limited to just 100 pieces,
  • All hand made and serial numbered,
  • Made from sterling silver wire and hallmarked by the London Assay Office,
  • Five genuine signatures,
  • A flown, High Pressure stage 7 compressor blade.

In the frame you can see 3 images. The most striking is the 3 dimensional (1:160) scale model made from silver wire, providing the 'Plan' view.  The background image provides the 'Head On' view, suitably faded so as not to impose. The 'Side' view is provided by the ingenious reflection in the mirror!

Each silver model is hand made, all 100 the same yet when framed, unique!

Made from sterling silver, each model bears the London Assay Office full hallmark (lasered in 3D) , port side on the fin, discreetly positioned so as not to detract from the beauty of the art form. On the starboard side of the tail plane (visible in the mirror and the correct way to be read) is the unique serial number, also lasered in 3D, by the London Assay office. The serial number is expressed as 1/100 and 2/100, 3/100 etc..  The serial number is also on the lower section of the 'Head On' view next to the aritist's signature.

Let's talk about the two upper and lower sections of the frame:

The Upper Frame:

Between the exacting four colour schemes showing the liveries are two of the most prominent signatures you will have the opportunity to acquire.  Sir Ross Stainton KB CBE,  former Chairman of British Airways and Lord Marshall of Knightsbridge,  former chairman of British Airways.  Above and below their orginal signatures, are the four tail plane liveries:  Pre-production,  Negus and Negus, Landor and the Chatham flag.  On the left of the four liveries is one (of the 105) blades from a High Pressure stage 7 compressor, from a Rolls-Royce Olympus 593-610 Turbojet engine off Concorde.  This item has been in service and is certified as authentic by British Airways.  A brief description of the blade is alongside it.

The Lower Frame:

First of all the image you see below, the 'Side' view is actually the reflection in the mirror of the real model below it,  that's the 3 dimentional scale model.

Then, below the model (seen in the framed picture above although not in the picture below because the picture has been cropped),  is three more prominent, historic and original signatures, together!

From left to right:

Squadron Leader Peter P Baker - Assistant Chief Test Pilot, Concorde.

Captain Jock Lowe - Chief Pilot, Concorde.

Captain Les Brodie - Flight Manager, Concorde.

A fascinating resume of these pliots is included in the specially reprinted limited edition (for these Tributes) of the Royal Aeronautical Society's publication, 'Concorde The Supersonic Achievement', which is presented along with the original certificate from the London Assay Office.  The Assay office has kindly agreed to provide a certificate for each serial numbered model it hallmarks and certify the exact weight of that model. The certificate and RAeS publication is presented in an original (Grey) Concorde seat-back wallet.  These document wallets were a gift to passengers in the 1970's and 1980's and we have been able to acquire sufficient to provide one for each Concorde Tribute,  to hold it's accompanying authentication documents.
